SIA - Security Guarding


City & Guilds Security Officer Guarding - VRQ Level 2 (No. 1902)*


The purpose of the City & Guilds 1902 course is to provide awareness of security issues to meet an increasing demand for more well trained operatives in the security sector.  Anyone who aspires to work as a security guard should have passed a UK recognised course.

This informs prospective employers that you have undergone a thorough and comprehensive course and fully observed the knowledge and understanding to meet any demands.  Graduates of this security guard course can apply their skills for all types of duties, whether working in the public or private sectors of the workplace.

It is essential were the multiple tasks of security guards are developing and changing with a commensurate increase in the variety of duties and responsibilities.  Likely security situations include criminal activity, terrorist attacks, general emergencies and public safety situation.

City & Guilds 1902 Award is suitable for those who work, or want to work, as:

Security Industry Authority (SIA)

The Security Industry Authority is established to manage the licensing of the private security industry as set out in the Private Security Industry Act 2001.  The SIA also aims to raise standards of professionalism and skills within the private security industry and to promote and spread best practice.  The City & Guilds Level 2 for Security Guards relates directly to the approved SIA Specification for Core Competency Training and Qualifications for Security Guarding.
