Community
Affordable community education is at the heart of what Northwest Lifelong Learning Association stands for.  Since our inception in 2003 we have been working within the borough of Limavady helping those people who felt both socially and intellectually excluded.  This has been achieved through European programmes such as Emerita, Women Working with Women (W4) and our new ESF Project which just launched this year called Skills 4 Service (S4S)

S4S has seen NWLLA grown not only in our catchment area of Limavady but by working with our educational & social partners we span along the north coast covering Portglenone, Ballymena, and Ballycastle.

Our community education ethos has continued to flourish backed by our new and emerging corporate identity and training programmes.  By continually sourcing funding from bodies such as the National Lottery and Awards For All we can see our cascade approach of community training, filtering back into the local communities.  This is achieved by the people we support coming full circle and providing a much needed volunteer element to the services we provide in Limavady.

Fifty percent of our staff are volunteers, with out which we could not provide the quality of service on which we pride ourselves.  They have been through many of our training and European programmes at the ‘coal face’.  As a result they have a first hand knowledge and understanding of what is involved for many people in re-skilling and for some breaking that social exclusion barrier.

The ‘community house’ element of NWLLA means that staff and students interact and mix freely on a daily basis.  This allows us to gage student’s feelings and opinions both on how NWLLA is run and the training it provides.  This helps us in our bottom up approach to management thus ensuring that quality is always at the forefront of the services we provide.  First and foremost NWLLA is by the people for the people.
